After reading about child exploitation for her high-school project, Cheryl embarked on a trip to Sir Lanka to get an insider’s look into child sex slavery. There, she worked with the National Child Protection Authority of Sri Lanka and posed as a 15-year-old child prostitute to catch a pedophile.
Cheryl founded One Child in order to mobilize young people to fight sexual exploitation of children around the world. Through her organization, Cheryl actively addresses UN organization and governmental bodies on children’s rights and social responsibility. She has also shared her story on CNN, CBC, Global TV, and the Motel Williams Show.
“Cheryl won because of the strength of her message and her powerful identification with it.”
